Did you know that the American Go Association (AGA) has its own professional go players? Three go players have been awarded professional certificates since the AGA began awarding them in 2011: Calvin Sun, Gansheng Shi, and Andy Liu.

Andy Liu was the first go player to be awarded professional status by the AGA. Better known to some as "bigbadwolf" on KGS (kiseido go server), Andy (Zhi Yuan) Liu won the first professional title in 2012 at the age of 20. Originally learning go in Queens as a young boy, Liu has excelled at go winning both the US Open and Ing Masters as an amateur.

Gansheng Shi was one of the first two go players to become a professional in the AGA, being awarded his certificate along with Andy Lui on August 4th, 2012.

Finally, we have our youngest and most recent AGA professional go player: Calvin Sun. 1P Sun won the US Youth Go Championship in 2012 and quickly followed that triumph with being awarded a professional certification in 2014 while still a teenager!
